Interior Cabinet secretary Joseph Nkaissery is dead. He died at the Karen hospital a few hours after being admitted for a check-up. This was first announced by the State House.
A statement that was released by Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service, Joseph Kinyua, indicated that Nkaissery suddenly fell ill and was rushed to the Karen hospital for check up only to die a few hours later. Mr Kinyua added that Kenyans will be updated as more information about Nkaissery’s death becomes available
According to The Daily Nation, Mr Nkaissery went to Karen Hospital at around 3pm on Friday after leaving Uhuru Park where he was in the company of President Uhuru Kenyatta and other leaders at a prayer event. The website also reported that Nkaissery actually looked okay after the prayer meeting but said he needed to go to hospital as he was not feeling well
Capital FM reported that some of his fellow Cabinet Secretaries and other top government officials were among those who rushed to the Karen Hospital soon after they learnt of his death. Also present at the hospital was Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet and CID boss Ndegwa Muhoro.
Nkaissery’s body has been transferred to Lee Funeral Home in Nairobi before burial arrangements begin.
